“Edward James Olmos is an award-winning actor, producer, director and community activist. In his presentation, Olmos tells the inspiring story of how he survived the barrio to succeed on his own terms by making tough choices. He is quick to identify those defining moments that shaped his positive and rewarding path in life. Olmos emphasizes the need for all races to combine their strengths, and he explains how diversity works to our society’s advantage. ”

Edward James Olmos is from California and has starred in movies like Stand and Deliver, BladeRunner, as well as being on television on the super 80’s show Miami Vice. His most pivotal role he played though was Admiral Will Adama on the hit remake of Battlestar Galactica. He is also a major community activist by helping to co-create a latino film festival, latino book festivals, be the executive director for the Lives in Hazard Educational Project as well as a National Ambassador for UNICEF.

Edward James Olmos has pry been one of my favorite role models of all time. He is just one of those men that demands respect because of the hard work he has done and all of the great, powerful characters that he has played. Not only that, he has a bitchin’ mustache. If you don’t believe the sheer awesomeness of Olmos, watch this speech he gives at the UN on the global issues of discrimnation and genocide and gets the WHOLE auditorium to “So Say So Say We All. ”

To learn more about the speech he is giving in Fort Collins you can chec out beetstreets website here as well as learn about the organizations and its amazing job to build a stronger community.
